21 Day Fix – Week 2 Update

21 Day Fix - Week 2 Update

21 Day Fix – Week 2 Update

Ok, so I have now completed 2 weeks of clean eating via the 21 Day Fix program.  I have to say that this second week has been the hardest avoiding my temptations and sticking to the program.  I  have found some delicious and filling recipes, and I am getting better and more time-efficient at meal planning.

How did the second week go?

The exercise videos were much easier the second week.  (But as Autumn says, “It doesn’t get easier, you get better.”)  This week was by far much more challenging in avoiding food temptations including sugar.  Overall, the second week has me feeling powerful, stronger, and encouraged.

What Foods Did I Eat?

I really challenged myself this week with food.  (I thought maybe a bit too soon, but I was successful).  First, my husband and I went on a date night.  We thought carefully about the restaurant and excluded many because I knew I wouldn’t be able to stick to the meal plan and we ended up choosing a local Mediterranean place.  I carefully looked over the menu and passed up the rich moussaka and sweet baklava.  I choose a lentil and tomato soup followed by grilled fish with spinach and roasted vegetables.  (I had some questions about ingredients, so I asked our waiter.  After rolling his eyes, he answered my questions.) The hardest part was letting a whole basket of bread sit on the table enticing me to eat it.  But I am stronger than I thought and didn’t touch a single piece.

Since this is Labor Day weekend, we choose to go to the water park for the last time this summer.  Well, I took my spinach and tomato salad with tuna on top for lunch, and almonds and fruit snacks measured in appropriate containers.  I smelt the delicious smell of fried foods all day and was tempted, but again avoided the temptations.  Then as we were leaving, and I was starving for dinner, we let the kids choose a snack/treat.  I had to sit a table with one eating a funnel cake, one eating  cheese covered french fries, and the other eating a corn-dog with fries (we brought one of the kid’s friends).  I sat there drinking my water reminding myself why I am choosing to be healthy and complete the 21 Day Fix.  To make matters worse, I had to trash some of the french fries because the kids couldn’t finish them!  What?! I threw away french fries!  Again, I am stronger than I thought.  I came home and performed the exercise routine and made my 21 Day Fix approved taco salad as quickly as possible.

I am powerful and can make healthy choices!

As noted last week, I added more protein powder drinks to my meals.  I can’t say I’ve noticed any more muscle definition or less hungry times.  I have found that I can tolerate the powder if I mix it with a cup of chilled brewed coffee.  (This also gives me some energy for the day.)  I also planned to take leftovers for lunches, and this was much more filling for me than a salad daily.

21 Day Fix Exercise Videos

I still LOVE the exercise videos.  I am less overall sore (and not limping as much), yet I feel more specific muscle soreness.  I found that I was performing more reps, using heavier weights, or staying longer in the plank pose compared to the first week.  I am feeling stronger.

My husband Derek performed the Upper Body Fix and Dirty 30 with me this week.  He was impressed with the videos as well and said “Wow, I am impressed you can keep up with these and are sticking to it.  It is harder than I thought.”  🙂

Second Week Results

I am pleased again with the results this week.  I can tell that I am toning and slimming down. I lost 1 pound and another inch around my navel and almost another inch at my hips.  I also need to buy a new bathing suit as the one I wore to the water park is too loose now. Yeah!!!  Honestly, I have periods of disappointment since I have only lost 3 pounds and friends and those on the infomercial lost more weight.  I am trying to stay positive and acknowledge that I am loosing inches and I only have 5-10 pounds total to loose.

My husband has noticed the difference as well, and is making lots of positive comments to me. I am very encouraged.

What Changes am I Making for The Last Week?

The only change I am going to make this last week of 21 Day Fix is I am going to try and add the ab program on 2 days this week.  I really like how toned I am looking and want to increase that as much as possible.

I’m ready for week 3 and more inches lost!
